How Rain Gutters Work and Protect You

Rain gutters are installed at the edge of a building’s roofline to collect the rainwater that flows off the roof. Water then flows through the gutters to the downspouts. The downspouts carry the water to the ground to help divert it away from the building. A building without gutters can quickly become surrounded by water. This pooling of water can deteriorate a building’s foundation and landscaping, seep into basements or crawl spaces, and put the structure at risk for mold and mildew damage. By investing in rain gutters, you are proactively safeguarding your home or business from water-related damage.

Gutter Installation Services

We custom fabricate your gutters on-site to ensure they fit the dimensions of your home perfectly. Seamless rain gutters offer improved performance, longevity, and a lower maintenance requirement, making them an excellent investment for homeowners seeking reliable and effective water management solutions. The absence of seams helps to minimize the risk of leaks, reducing the chances of water damage to the exterior of your home.

Our construction manager has loaded the KWM Gutterman machine with aluminum gutter coil. This machine shapes the aluminum coil into a custom gutter. We then print out and cut the gutter to match the exact dimensions of the building.

Material Choices

Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the most popular gutter materials. It is inexpensive, more resistant to rust than other metals, lightweight, and easily formed. Aluminum coil comes in a variety of colors so that you can find a match for your home’s existing gutter or trim color. This means that there will be no painting involved!

Pros:

  • Durable, lightweight, and does not rust
  • Pre-finished in a wide range of colors
  • Seamless construction

Cons:

  • Thinner than steel and therefore more susceptible to damage from impact

Painted Steel

Steel is undoubtedly a more durable material. Steel gutters are harder to dent, and are more likely to hold their shape under pressure. They do however require more maintenance as steel is not a rust free metal.

Pros:

  • Very durable
  • Seamless construction

Cons:

  • More maintenance to prevent rusting
  • Limited color options available
  • More expensive

Bonderdized Steel

Bonderdized Steel has been treated with a chemical solution containing phosphoric acid. This chemical treatment alters the surface of the steel, improving paint adhesion, and inhibiting corrosion. This metal is a good option for individuals who would like to paint their gutters after installation.

Pros:

  • Very durable
  • Good paint adhesion

Cons:

  • More maintenance to prevent rusting
  • More expensive than aluminum

Galvanized Steel

Galvanized Steel has been immersed in a bath of molten zinc. The zinc coating bonds with the steel, forming a protective barrier that helps to prevent rust and corrosion, but rejects paint if not prepared properly. Galvanized steel is known for its durability and long lifespan even in harsh environments.

Pros:

  • Very durable
  • Resistant to the elements
  • Classic metal look

Cons:

  • More maintenance to prevent rusting
  • Does not accept paint well
  • More expensive than aluminum
